Patrick Tiernan, Chief of Markets
Patrick Tiernan joined Lloyd’s as Chief of Markets in May 2021. He currently oversees Lloyd’s market performance, oversight and development and is responsible for distribution and the global network. He is a member of Lloyd’s Council and the Lloyd’s ESG Advisory Group.
Patrick has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry most recently as Managing Director, UK Commercial Lines & Global Corporate & Specialty at Aviva. Other notable roles he has held previously include Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Aviva Insurance Limited, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of StarStone Insurance and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zurich’s Centrally Managed Businesses.

Bruno van Lierde, Chair of the Board and Chair of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee
Bruno van Lierde is Chair or the Board and Chair of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee for Lloyd’s Insurance Company S.A. Mr van Lierde previously held the position of Senior Partner and Managing Director of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Brussels. Bruno joined BCG in 1991, setting up the Brussels office in 1993 and becoming Chairman in 2006. He was a trusted advisor to CEOs and senior executives of financial institutions and insurance companies on issues of strategy, organisation and performance. He also advised industrial firms, transportation companies, principal investors and private equity firms. He was a member of the leadership team of BCG on People and Organisation. He has also previously held the position of Chairman of the Board for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Belgium.

Amélie brings more than 25 years of international insurance markets experience in finance, transformation, strategy and development, in a number of senior leadership and executive committee positions as well as board member roles in Hong Kong, mainland China, India, the UK and Ireland, including 16 years at AXA as Head of Group Strategic Planning & Controlling, Regional CFO for Asia and CFO for UK & Ireland. Prior years include roles at KPMG and Allianz.

Jonathan May, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer
Jonathan May began his career with Ernst & Young, then joined Lloyd’s in 2006, leading a number of teams across the finance function before relocating with his family to Shanghai in 2016 to take on the role of CFO and COO for the Greater China region before taking on the Asia Pacific Regional CFO role in December 2018. Jonathan was appointed International CFO for Lloyd’s effective 1 July 2020, responsible for Finance across Lloyd’s international network.

Giles Taylor, Chief Risk Officer
Giles joined Lloyd’s in 2007 and was appointed Chief Risk Officer of Lloyd’s Europe in May 2018, with responsibility for risk governance, compliance and for Lloyd’s Europe’ regulatory affairs. He was previously Senior Manager in the Lloyd’s International Regulatory Affairs team and led the regulatory authorisation process for the new Belgian company. Prior to joining Lloyd’s, Giles worked for ACE (now Chubb) for ten years, gaining experience in the Lloyd’s and London company market environments. Giles is a Chartered Insurer and has a degree in History. He is married and has three children.

Jakob Thyme, Chief Operating Officer
Jakob joined Lloyd’s in 2015 charged with establishing and leading the newly created EMEA operations function. He was previously Chief Operating Officer at Infrassure Ltd. in Switzerland; and worked for 14 years for Zurich Financial Services in Switzerland and Scandinavia, where he held a number of positions including Group Operations Manager as well as leading Merger & Acquisition transactions in Asia Pacific. Jakob holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in International Business from the Copenhagen Business School. Jakob speaks Danish, Swedish, English and German. He is married.
Mark Cooper, Chief Market Development Officer & Head of European Branches
Mark joined Lloyd’s in 2015 and was appointed Chief Market Development Officer & Head of European Branches of Lloyd’s Insurance Company in September 2019. He is responsible for delivering Lloyd’s commercial market strategy in Europe and managing the network of Lloyd’s European offices. He spent 17 years in Dubai, the last 4 of those years as the Lloyd’s General Representative for the Middle East & Turkey markets. In this role he was responsible for shaping and implementing the business and market development strategy across the Middle East region, as well as managing the operations of the Dubai platform. Mark’s career spans over 20 years in the international insurance industry including executive roles with Zurich, RSA and the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority before moving to Belgium.
Benoît Waltregny, Chief Corporate and Legal Officer
Benoît has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having held key senior management positions in the banking sector (internal audit, business development, private banking) and having been for more than 7 years Chief Compliance Officer of ING Group. Benoît holds Master degrees of laws from Liège University, from University of East Anglia (UK) and from Harvard Law School. Benoît is responsible for all legal, regulatory and public affairs for Lloyd’s Europe. He is also in charge of Corporate Secretariat.
Nicole Verheyen, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee
Nicole Verheyen has been appointed Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of Lloyd’s Insurance Company. Nicole has more than 20 years insurance industry experience in providing assurance services as accredited auditor and qualified actuary at EY. As Financial Services Audit Partner at EY, Nicole has built up extensive experience in the audit of insurance companies and pension funds. Thanks to various expert and management roles in the insurance industry, Nicole has gained a broad experience in financial and actuarial reviews, insurance regulation, insurance brokerage and strategic decision making. Nicole is currently Partner at Triple A Risk Finance, independent Board member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at ASCO, Board member at the Institute of Actuaries in Belgium (IABE) and independent Board member at IBP BRABO OFP.

Angela Crawford-Ingle, Member of the LIC Board of Directors and member of the LIC Audit and Risk Committee
Angela Crawford-Ingle currently holds the position of Chair of Audit Committee at Lloyd’s and TP ICAP plc. Angela has extensive experience from her previous role as a senior, high profile partner with PwC specialising in Financial Services with strong commercial and technical skills and a successful track record in developing businesses within PwC and in advising clients. Angela founded Ambre Partners established to provide strategic advice combined with operational and financial management.
In addition to her position Chairing Lloyd’s Audit Committee, Angela has market experience from her time at Beazley where she held the positions of Chair of the Group Audit and Risk Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee of the principal operating subsidiary, Beazley Furlonge Ltd, the UK regulated entity.

Bertrand Heugues, Chief Underwriting Officer
Heugues began his career in 2005 as a commercial lines underwriter at Axa and then moved to Marsh where he was an alternative risk transfer advisor, responsible for structuring and negotiating tailor-made solutions for major customer segments and captive clients worldwide. He has also held a number of senior positions at Generali, including financial planning and analysis (FP&A) manager in France and chief technical officer in Belgium.
He joined Ageas in 2015 as the Global Head of Pricing and Underwriting and then became the non-life deputy Chief Operating Officer in Portugal responsible for pricing, underwriting, claims and policy administration. He was also the head of ESG.
Peter Etzenbach, Independent Board Member
Peter Etzenbach brings extensive and international experience as a senior finance, investment and insurance professional. Peter is currently a Senior Advisor at InfraVia Capital Partners. Previously, Peter held deputy CEO, CFO and CIO responsibilities at both Allianz France and AXA Japan. Peter began his career in financial services and international business at Goldman Sachs working in the London, Hong Kong, Frankfurt and Paris offices advising on mergers and acquisitions and equity transactions. He is a German national, born in Brussels and living in France.

Peter Spires, General Counsel and Non-Executive Director
Peter is Lloyd’s General Counsel. Peter is responsible for the provision of all legal advice to the Corporation and its subsidiaries. Peter is also responsible for the Council Secretariat team which manages the affairs of the Council and the Franchise Board and their committees. Peter manages Lloyd’s relationship with the PRA and the FCA and is responsible for oversight of market conduct. Peter joined Lloyd’s in 1995 and worked on Lloyd’s Reconstruction and Renewal arrangements, Lloyd’s litigation, the Chairman’s Strategy Group (which led to the introduction of the Franchise Board) and all aspects of Lloyd’s affairs since. Peter is a qualified solicitor and previously worked in private practice. Peter holds a law degree and is married with one child.

Thibault Laget, Chief Compliance Officer
Thibault Laget was appointed Chief Compliance Officer in October 2021. He joined Lloyd’s Insurance Company from Europ Assistance SA, where he was General Counsel. Prior to this, Thibault was at Chubb, first as legal and compliance director for France and then promoted to head the function for Continental Europe, covering 17 branches located across Europe. Thibault also worked for AIG and MetLife in Paris, in European legal and compliance functions. He left Europe for a few years to work in Dubai for the Chalhoub Group which distributes luxury brands across the Middle East. Thibault is a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales and started his career in London working for US law firm Reed Smith and global broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc (now Marsh). Thibault is married and has two daughters.
